Photography Contributor Guidelines

Are you a photographer passionate about storytelling through the lens? Charakter is looking for visual creators to share their unique perspectives on culture, sustainability, and innovation.

We're particularly interested in:

Photo essays on explorative adventures or Black heritage.
Images showcasing the intersection of technology and culture.
Creative visual takes on untold stories.

When pitching your work, please include:

Concept Overview (100 words): A description of the photo essay or theme you'd like to explore.
Sample Images or Portfolio Link: Share a few examples that reflect your vision.
Timeline: Let us know your availability and when you can submit your work.

Writer Contributor Guidelines

Are you a storyteller with a passion for culture, innovation, and exploration? Charakter is seeking talented writers to contribute thought-provoking articles and profiles that align with our mission of uplifting Black voices and perspectives.

If you have a compelling idea that fits within our themes–Black Americans in Techology, Sustainability, Culture & Heritage, or Adventures–please pitch it to us!

When submitting a pitch, include:

Title: A tentative title for your piece.
Synopsis (100-200 words): A short summary of your idea.
Proposed Length: Specify whether it's a short-form article (~800 words) or a long-form story (~1,500 words).
About You: Share a brief bio or link to your portfolio.

Film/Video Contributor Guidelines

Do you create films that tell powerful, authentic stories? Charakter is seeking filmmakers to contribute documentary shorts (3-10 minutes) that explore themes of culture, adventure, and innovation through a cinematic lens.

Here's what we're looking for:

Stories that celebrate Black achievements in STEM and technology.
Documentaries exploring sustainability and its cultural impact.
Creative visual narratives about untold stories or adventures.

Please include in your pitch:

Concept Outline (100-200 words): A brief description of your film idea.
Sample Work: Provide links to past films or similar projects.
Proposed Timeline: An estimated schedule for production and delivery.
